The Association of Kerala Medical Graduates (AKMG) is a non-profit
organization of physicians and dentists of Kerala (India) origin practicing
in Canada and the United States of America. AKMG aims to maintain
and preserve the identity and heritage of its members and to provide
them forum for scientific, educational, cultural and social interaction.
The Association maintains a directory of its members. Amongst its
goals are assistance to medical and dental students, physicians and
dentists in obtaining professional training in Canada and the United
States, improving cooperation between north American medical societies
and their counterparts in Kerala, rendering medical assistance to
the indigent, and making charitable contributions to eligible agencies
permissible under 501 c (3) of the United States Internal Revenue
Code.

Membership in AKMG is open not only to physicians and dentists who
are alumni of medical and dental schools of Kerala, but also to any
physician or dentist of Kerala heritage practicing in the United States
or Canada. Almost eighty percent of the estimated 1500 members are
listed in our directory and among them 750 are life members. Attendance
at the annual AKMG meetings has averaged over 250 families. A large
segment of active AKMG participants hail from medical and dental institutions
elsewhere in India and from many countries, including the United States
and Canada. Many such members are active participants in the Governing
Body and in various committees; one of them served as the President
of the organization. AKMG is actively seeking participation of new
members who share the vision ofpreserving their heritage and maintaining
close links with institutions and people of Kerala. |
