2009 AKMG CONVENTION, CHICAGO

JULY 2 (Thur), 3 (Fri), and 4 (Sat), 2009

DOWNTOWN MARRIOTT ON MAGNIFICENT MILE
(540 N. Michigan Ave)

The 2009 AKMG Convention will be on July 4th weekend in Chicago at the Downtown Marriott.  There are no other conflicting meetings like FOKANA or AAPI on this weekend and the holiday is observed on Friday, July 3.  AKMG has more than 600 members in the Midwest area and the Marriott on the Magnificent Mile is a great place to stay and enjoy.  The Marriott has plenty of rooms and our convention room rate is $169.00 for single and double with no extra charge for children.  We have reserved Marriott’s  grand ball room for main functions and it can accommodate up to 2,000 people.

Dr. K.J. Philip has agreed to be the convention chair with Drs. Moly Mathew, Krishna R. Prasad and Isac Thomas serving as co-chairs.  A planning committee has started working and we’ve had three meetings so far.

Michigan Avenue is the shopping capital of the world with Nordstrom, Bloomingdale, Cartier, Tiffany and others just a few steps away from the hotel.  Rush Street, Navy Pier, Water Tower Plaza, Hancock Tower, Art Museum, Shedd Aquarium, Science Museum, Theater district and Sears Tower are all a few blocks away and can be reached in a few minutes by foot or by free trolley service which runs all the time.  World famous “Taste of Chicago” in Grand Park and July 4th weekend fireworks on Friday are a few added attractions on this weekend in Chicago.

We are planning to create an enchanted world for you with excellent CME, great entertainment, and Midwestern hospitality.  Please mark the calendar and plan to attend.  You will not regret that you came.

For the 2009 Chicago Convention Committee,

Thomas J. Mukkada, MD
