Discovery Journey to South Africa, April 6-14, $1985 + Air,
This year AKMG is organizing this journey as our main cultural and educational trip. The main tour includes a full-day Cape Peninsula tour that will take you to the Atlantic Seaboard past Clifton to Hout Bay, a cruise past the seals on Seal Island, continuing over Chapman's Peak to the Cape Point Nature Reserve. You'll enjoy a lunch at a local fish restaurant before paying a visit to the penguins on Boulders Beach and Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens. One of the highlights of this journey is two days of game safari in the Pilanesberg National Park. Situated in a long extinct volcano, the reserve accommodates virtually every mammal of southern Africa. The park is home to healthy populations of lion, leopard, black and white rhino, elephant and buffalo - Africa's "Big Five". You will enjoy open vehicle game drive under the guidance orf experienced ranger and tracker team in search of Africa's famous wildlife. At sunset, stop for sundowners to toast the end of another day in Africa, before continuing the safari after dark with the aid of powerful spotlights to, hopefully, glimpse some of the elusive nocturnal game.
