The 2016 AKMG Convention registrations are progressing nicely. Here are some FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) that will help answer some of your queries. These can be found on the convention page of the AKMG website.
1. Do I need my AKMG ID to register?
No. AKMG ID is not required to register.
2. Can I modify my Registration?
Yes, please send an email to amkg2016@gmail.com with the requested modifications and we will make the changes. This is to avoid duplicate charges being posted.
3. I completed my registration but my credit card has not been charged and I did not get a receipt. Why?
Your credit card will be processed in a few days. You will then get an email with your invoice and registration details.
4. What is included in the ALL INCLUSIVE Convention?
The following are included in the FLAT FEE:

There will be no meals on July 17th Sunday.
5. What is NOT included in the Convention registration price?
1) The hotel room at Eden Roc Resort & Spa
2) Parking
3) Other hotel services such as, Spa or restaurants, bar, mini bar, telephone calls, etc.
4) Transportation to and from the hotel (There is no shuttle service from the hotel to the airport)
6. How do I make my hotel reservation?
Go to our website at www.akmg.org and click on the 2016 Convention button in green.
7. What time does the Convention actually begin on July 14th? When should I arrive?
On Day 1, Thursday, the evening begins with a Cocktail Reception at 5:00 pm followed by the Opening Ceremony, dinner and the spectacular Miami Fiesta Night.
Therefore, please plan to arrive early so you can enjoy the evening starting at 5:00 pm. For your convenience the Convention check-in is open from 1:00 pm – 8:00 pm on Day1.
8. When are the CME sessions and how many credits will I receive?
All CME sessions take place in the morning from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm on the 15th and 16th. You will receive 10 CME credits.
9. What entertainment do you have planned for July 15th?
On Day 2, Friday, after the cocktail reception at 5:00 pm, followed by a presentation- The Future of AKMG and dinner. This night's entertainment is the mesmerizing, AKMG's Got Talent, showcasing a variety of music, dance and other talents from within AKMG from around the world.
10. What is the program for the Gala night on July 16th and how long is the program? When should I book my return flight for?
The Day 3 GALA NIGHT program begins with the cocktails/reception at 5:30 pm, followed by the Closing Ceremony & Dinner: starting at 6:30 pm. The Gala entertainment is "MYSTIC INDIA - The Intimate Experience." A breathtaking journey celebrating the cultural diversity of India through music and dance. A kaleidoscope of art, color and beauty! This is something you just cannot afford to miss. Please book your return tickets for Sunday, July 17th as the night ends late on Saturday.
11. What is the suggested attire for the convention and its events?

12. Do you have any suggestions regarding what I should bring?
Being right on the beach, please remember to bring beach-wear and accessories.
13. Is it advisable to rent a car?
It is not advisable to rent a car. Self/Valet parking though available, is expensive,
14. What is the best mode of transportation to and from the airport and within the city?
The best means of transportation to and from the hotel is via taxi or Uber. The hotel does not have a shuttle service.
15. Do you have any programs for non-physician spouses or family while the physicians are attending the CME sessions during the day?
Yes, certainly. On Friday and Saturday, we have Yoga classes, Zumba classes, Bollywood dance workout sessions, Henna application sessions, Makeup artistry class, and many more.
16. If my spouse wants to visit Miami or South Beach, do you have any sightseeing shuttles or trips included?
No. Such trips will be on your own however the hotel concierge will be happy to assist you.
17. If I want to visit Miami or South Beach for sightseeing and shopping but do not wish to miss a moment of the convention, can I stay a few days longer for the same hotel room rate?
Yes. Please stay a few more days before or after the convention. We have arranged the same room rates of $205.00 (plus tax) from July 10th - 21st for you.
18. I am only coming for two days of the Convention. Is there a different rate for each day?
No, we have only one low rate for the entire all-inclusive convention. The cost is the same for any part you attend. We encourage you to plan to come early and enjoy all the events on all three days of the convention.
19. Will babysitting be available during the evening programs?
Yes, baby-sitting services will be provided during the evening entertainment session from 5:00 pm until the end of the program on Day 2 and Day 3. There will be NO baby-sitting service on Day 1.
20. My children are medical students, residents and in non-medical fields. Are there any socializing events for the young AKMG?
Yes, we have a very active AKMG Youth Committee that has arranged for a social evening where the young AKMG can mix and mingle. This event is scheduled for Day 1 or Day 2 (TBD) and is open to ages 17 and older. Please email us their contact information so that the AKMG Youth Committee can make them aware of what they have to offer and encourage them to come.
21. What time can I CHECK-IN and CHECK-OUT of the hotel?
The Hotel CHECK IN is at 3:00 pm.
The CHECK OUT time is 11:00 am.
22. How long does it take to get to the airport from the hotel, and what is the best mode of transportation?
Under normal traffic conditions the travel time from the Hotel to the Miami International Airport would be approximately 30 minutes. The travel time from the Hotel to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport under normal traffic conditions would be approximately 55 minutes.
23. What is the cancellation policy for the convention and the hotel?
Once registration is completed, there will be a $50.00 handling charge for all refunds until June 14th. After June 14th there will be no refunds.
24. How do I update my contact details in the AKMG Directory?
Login to our website, ww.akmg.org and follow these steps:
a. Click on Member Login
b. Put your First and Last name
c. Select one of the options i.e. State, etc.
d. Click on Submit
e. This should bring up your Profile with ID
f. Then click Member Login again and put the generic password 09876 and click Submit
g. Click Edit Profile, update all your information, and change your password and click Submit
h. Please make a note of your AKMG ID and password for future reference
